Explore Prehistoric Sites

One of our principle objectives over the existence of Pacific Catalyst is to introduce our guests to places and ways of life that most people don’t know exist. From the waterfalls of Ford’s Terror fiord, to pioneer organic farmers in a remote Alaskan watershed, to a tiny Sea of Cortez island that is home to five generations of fishers, we introduce you to people and places that have stories worth hearing.

In the course of our Baja wanderings we have been stunned by the network of rock art spread throughout the region. This ancient art, comprised of petroglyphs (images carved into stone) and pictographs (images painted on stone) presents an as yet unsolved puzzle as to who created them, when, why and, what were the artists trying to communicate. Having begun to explore a few of these prehistoric sites, we have found them to be both mystifying and humbling.

We are offering this Rock Art extension for all of our Sea of Cortez, Baja California cruises. This extension can also be booked as a standalone adventure, independent of our regular Sea of Cortez cruises.
