Baja Tour: La Paz to Loreto Sea of Cortez, Magdalena Bay Grey Whale Lagoons:
This 11-day/10-night expedition among the scattered islands along the shore of the Baja peninsula begins with an overland visit to the gray whale breeding and birthing lagoons of Bahia Magdalena or San Ignacio. Encounter whales up close and capture unforgettable photos! You also get to snorkel with young sea lions, walk along desert island ridges and palm-lined arroyos, visit a remote fishing village, and kayak into a mangrove lagoon.

South East Alaska Tour: Western Passages Juneau to Sitka:
This  8-day/7-night expedition from Juneau to Sitka or from Sitka to Petersburg visits the most beautiful locations along the western passages. We begin with transit up a narrow channel to a tidewater glacier and a kayak trip into a waterfall-lined fjord. Visiting the villages of Angoon and Tenakee Springs, we meet with locals and learn about their lives. Along the way, we watch for foraging brown bears and feeding humpback whales and capture amazing photos.

There are few species as endangered as full-time professional wildlife photographers, and Wendy Shattil is as rare as they come. She is an international award-winning shooter, well known for creating images with provocative light, mood, and humor, linking this talent with a vast knowledge of the natural world and the enthusiasm for sharing it.

Wendy Shattil leads a limited number of nature photography trips, and favorites include Southeast Alaska, the Sea of Cortez, and the Pacific Northwest on the classic and elegant eight-passenger boat, the MV Westward, which allows for intimate encounters with nature and wildlife.

Wendy has photographed professionally since 1981, compiling well over 300,000 stock images of nature and wildlife. Although specializing in North American subjects and locations, she has had assignments and led trips to faraway places such as Egypt, Belize, Namibia, South Africa, and the High Arctic.

Wendy was the first woman awarded Grand Prize in the world’s most prestigious wildlife photography contest, England’s BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition. She is the recipient of the Philip Hyde Grant for environmental photography, Denver Audubon’s Environmental Stewardship Award, and the Colorado Wildlife Federation’s Conservationist of the Year Award.
